The New Europe College began as a utopia. Having gained the recognition of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin, this utopia then turned to adventure, in the attempt to enliven it. Some years on, the adventure yielded an institution. Doesn't every story of foundation follow a similar route? NEC travelled this route for ten years, accompanied along the way by an increasing number of friends. Now, in order to strengthen its vitality, the institution needs only to reignite that spirit of adventure and the courage for a reasonable utopia.
